Bengaluru : Vijai Sambhav Foundation marked International Women’s Day with a compassionate outreach programme at Sandhya Suraksha – A Home for Helpless Elderly Women, bringing warmth and companionship to elderly women who often find themselves alone at a stage in life when family support is most needed.
Many of the residents at the home have been abandoned or separated from their loved ones. Through this initiative, the Foundation sought to make them feel valued and included as part of the Vijai Sambhav Foundation family.
As part of the celebration, volunteers sponsored and served a special Women’s Day lunch and distributed cozy nighties to the elderly residents. The event created an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness, with volunteers spending time interacting with the women and sharing moments of joy and laughter.
Earlier, the Foundation had also organised an eye care camp at the facility, benefiting more than 160 people with free spectacles and basic health checks, including blood pressure, blood sugar and BMI assessments.
Volunteers on the ground included Ravi, Sonal, Vijay, Veena, Sandhya, Shweta, Sushma, John, Carol, and Rashmi.
Foundation members said the smiles and heartfelt blessings from the elderly women made the initiative deeply meaningful, reinforcing the importance of compassion, dignity and care for senior citizens who often face loneliness in their later years.
