Bengaluru : A comprehensive health camp was successfully organised at Sheila Kothavala Institute for the Deaf in Bengaluru, marking a significant step towards inclusive healthcare and social sensitivity. The camp was organised by Vijai Sambhav Foundation (VSF) in collaboration with Kauvery Hospitals, Bengaluru, and the Aloka Vision Programme.
The initiative provided general physician consultations, BMI check-ups, and eye screenings for students with hearing impairment. Medical professionals from Kauvery Hospitals conducted the health assessments, while the Aloka Vision Programme carried out detailed eye examinations. The Foundation also announced that free spectacles would be provided to more than 25 students who were prescribed corrective eyewear once the spectacles are ready.
Adding a meaningful educational element, students from New Horizon Gurukul School donated storybooks to the institute’s library, encouraging reading habits and learning among the children.
The camp was smoothly coordinated by on-ground volunteers Ravi Rajhans, John Britto, Sonal Kirty, Vikas, and Carol Britto. For many volunteers, the interaction with the students was a deeply moving experience, reinforcing the belief that communication does not require spoken language, but compassion and empathy.
